Can I edit my website myself?

4 min readOwnership

You send website changes to us and we make them. You do not need to log in or learn an editor.

You keep the business information current, and we handle the website work. You still need to tell us what has changed and which information customers should see. If your Saturday hours change, for example, send the new hours and the page that needs updating.

Are edits included in the monthly website plan?

Our website plan terms say: "The monthly price includes the domain, hosting, unlimited text and photo edits, and ongoing updates and fixes."

You can send us changes to the text and photos on your site. A new shop photo or corrected opening hours are typical requests. You can describe the update in the same words you would use to explain it to someone at the counter.

For something bigger, such as a new service page, tell us what you want it to do. We will go over the work involved and how it fits your plan before you decide to go ahead.

Our price is set before we start, and we do not charge for extra work without written approval. Keep a copy of what we agreed so you can check it when you want a bigger change.

What if I bought the website outright?

The buy-outright monthly covers hosting and the domain. Edits are quoted separately. You can compare both arrangements in our web design pricing.

You still send the requested change to us. Explain what needs updating so we can go over the edit and its price. For example, if you have rewritten a service description, include the replacement wording and identify the existing page.

Keep those edit costs in mind when choosing how to pay. A business that changes photos often will weigh them differently from one whose information rarely changes, so think about how many updates you expect before you pick.

What should I include when I send a change?

The page address is a useful starting point. It tells us where you want the change made, especially when the same service appears on several pages.

Include the existing wording and the wording you want in its place. "Please replace the opening hours on our contact page with these hours" gives us more to work with than "the contact page is wrong." Read the replacement text before sending it so it says what you want customers to know.

For a photo change, identify the picture to replace and explain what the new one shows. A shop might have two photos of its entrance, with only one showing the current sign. Tell us which image to use so we choose the one you mean.

If a change has a date attached, include it in the request. Say when new opening hours take effect. That way we know when the change should appear.

How do I get the request to you?

Send it to us through the contact route on our contact page. Include your business name and the public page address so we can understand which website and change you mean.

You can explain the problem even if you have not written the replacement yet. If a service description is confusing customers, tell us which part they misunderstand and what you want it to explain. We can discuss the work from there.

Some changes affect information elsewhere on the website. If the same hours appear on your main page and contact page, mention both places when you send the correction. You know where customers have been seeing the old information, which helps describe the update you need.

Why does this work for a busy owner?

You can concentrate on the business information without learning how to change page layouts. A barber who needs a new shop photo can send the picture and say where it belongs. The website work comes to us.

You still know when a service has changed and whether the wording describes it correctly. When staff spots an old detail, write it down and send it with your next request.

One person at the business can gather those notes before sending them. That helps when staff has different versions of the same service information. Agree on the correct wording first, then send it.

Does this change who owns the website?

You own your domain and site, including the code we build. The site runs on your own hosting account, with access you control and can revoke. We provide documentation to run what we build.

Handing us the edits does not change who owns the site. When you are comparing website options, consider both who owns the accounts and who will do the editing after launch.

Compare the two payment options on our web design page.
