How long does it take to build a website?

4 min readOwnership

Your website can go live in 3 to 5 days once we have everything we need. That means getting the business information and material for the agreed pages ready, including sorting out anything still missing.

You can contact us before all of that is finished. Send your current website address if you have one, explain your business and tell us what needs to work better. We can start there.

What do you need before those days begin?

The information should describe the business as it is today. We need to know which services belong on the site and what customers should do after reading about them. A shop taking appointment requests needs to explain how that request reaches the people handling it.

Our website preparation guide walks through the material to gather. Start with the business name customers recognize and the contact details you want published. Check your hours and address. If you travel to customers, explain the area you cover.

Service notes help us understand the pages. Use the explanation you give someone who calls about the work. Include the questions you hear before a customer decides to book or ask for a quote. We work from those notes when we agree what to build.

What if my photos or wording are unfinished?

Bring what you have and tell us what still needs doing. Some photos may be ready to use, while others show an old version of the shop. Label them so we can tell which ones belong on the new pages.

The same applies to wording. A menu or brochure can be useful, but mark anything that has changed. If a service is still being planned, say that before it appears as something customers can request.

We need to agree who supplies the finished wording and any missing images. Talk through writing, photography or finding pictures when planning the job and its price. If you are waiting for new shop photos, for example, tell us what is ready now and what is still to come.

Can account access hold things up?

Bring the names of the domain and hosting accounts you know about, along with who can approve access. If someone else manages them, finding that out early gives you time to involve the right person.

Passwords do not belong in your project notes. Use the account's own way of sharing access. Tell us about any account you cannot reach so we can talk through access before scheduling changes.

Tell us about tools the website needs to connect to as well. For a salon, that might be the booking software staff already uses. Explain where appointments appear today and what you want customers to do on the new pages. The name of the tool helps us figure out the connection for your project.

Will I see the website while you build it?

Yes. We share working versions early, so you can read your content in the actual pages and follow the links. You can find that approach on our web design page.

Choose someone who can check the business details and gather comments from staff. They can open a service page on a phone and try the step a customer would take. If the booking button is hard to find, pointing to that page shows us what needs changing.

Reading the pages also gives you a chance to catch old information. A phone number may be correct in your notes while the hours still need checking with the shop manager. Gather those corrections together so we can work from the information you want customers to see.

What if I need the site for a particular date?

Tell us the date and what is driving it when you first contact us. A shop opening or a change of address helps us understand why you need that date. We can look at what material you already have and which decisions are still open.

The 3 to 5 days starts once we have everything needed for the agreed website. If you are still deciding which services to include, bring that up while we plan the pages. A clear page list helps you see what information remains to be supplied.

When will I be charged?

Nothing is charged until the site is live and you have seen it. Our website plan terms set out when billing starts and what the monthly and buy-outright options cover.

We agree the work and price before starting. If you want to add something while reviewing the pages, discuss it with us so you understand the work involved. We do not charge for extra work without your written approval.
